5 years sa thesis

5 years sa thesis

Alien Prison Outbreak Digital Painting with Process Video

Aside from comics, I also do these digital paintings - more than I draw comics actually. I've been watching a lot of speed painting videos on YouTube for a long time and I found them really amazing - how everything comes together in the video. I wanted to try recording myself before so that I can see for myself how my process looks when sped up, but I couldn't really 'kus I didn't have enough memory to store the videos - not until recently at least...

So I've done just that recorded, and sped up a video of me at work in painting. I actually could have uploaded this sooner, but it takes so long to upload since its so large. I left my computer on overnight for it to finish uploading, but for some reason it kept stopping and I would have to refresh the page for it to load again. The bad thing is, this is just the first part of the video... I've separated the video into two since it reached about 15 minutes in total, aaaand from my experience from watching some 'YouTuber's' videos are that they don't usually allow a single video that's more than 10 minutes long, unless you're partnered with them or something. I'm not so sure if that's still a thing, but just to be safe, I cut the video into two. So without further ado... Part 1 of my painting process video! Enjoy, and stay tuned for the second part.

Aspire V 15 Nitro - Black Edition Review

While this may not be the latest gaming machine on the market, it's still something that is worthy of reviewing, because it has finally dipped into the sub-1k club in terms of gaming machines. The Aspire V 15 Nitro is a machine produced by Acer that caters to the higher percentile of computer users that require a machine that is both powerful and portable, while also bolstering a NVIDIA GTX 860m, it also fills in the niche of the gaming laptop that so many people are after.

I've had this machine for about 4 days now, and I'm pretty satisfied for the price I got it. For 900 dollars (950 including tax and discount) from Newegg.com, this thing is a well oiled beast that pretty much trumps mid-high end gaming laptops. In its price range is the Lenovo Y50, which is a similar machine, with the same graphics card, but my only qualm with it was actually the screen (which is easily replaceable) so I opted to check out this machine instead, just because I couldn't be bothered to replace the screen.

While people may not like Windows 8, I just have to say that I love Windows 8, just because of the boot up time. You could always downgrade to Windows 7 if you want, but you have to get on with the times guys! (and having a 10 second boot up time is pretty awesome too)

The CPU pretty rocking with an i7, which means, in addition to gaming, it's suitable for heavier programs like image manipulation, or video editing; however, my version only has 8GB RAM, while it is suitable, it's not exactly the greatest. There are some issues that I'm having while playing some games like Sid Meier's Civ V, where there is some weird issues with game speed, but tinkering with the settings should solve that. The GTX 860M is a pretty good graphics card for a laptop, it handles most games smoothly, though I haven't tried many graphics intensive games. But overall, it satisfies my niche of games (Arcade, MOBA, Diplomacy. RTS)

The back-lit keyboard is a nice little bonus to have, making it look pretty, so that's nice. However, while the design is pretty sleek, and slim, it is a magnet for finger prints. You could touch a part, and there will be marks. And the positioning of the USB hubs, and the HDMI cable are pretty shitty. They're on the right side of the machine, all lined up together, is a pretty shitty place if you're right handed.

They're clumped so close together, sometimes it's a hassle to even insert multiple USB's at once! Definitely a huge negative since the connectors I use are pretty bulky in nature.

Aside from the positioning, the battery life (as expected from a gaming laptop) is pretty bad. At max settings, it lasts around an hour and a half, while at lowest settings, it lasts like maybe 4 hours max (thats with everything turned off).

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with this buy, since it performs the tasks I want it to do, but pretty much sucks in terms of battery life, and hub placement. I would very much recommend this to anyone who is saving up to buy a laptop in the 900 dollar level, but if you can afford something more, then by all means, get a better rig.

Here's the breakdown:

  • Screen (10/10) I'm not expecting much from a laptop screen, but the screen is beautiful, and I expected something much worse.
  • Performance (7/10) I really thought I was getting the 16 GB version, but I realized that I bought the 8 GB version. The lower performance in Civ 5 also took off a few points from me. But overall, it's okay. Could be better, but yeah.
  • Portability (6/10) It's heavy, and prone to scratches. If you don't have a laptop bag, I'd highly advise transportation for this.
  • Battery (7/10) As expected, the battery is pretty bad for a gaming machine that uses way too much power. Didn't
  • Audio (9/10) I like the speakers on this machine. They sound nice, and are pretty kick-ass in terms of their surround sound.
Overall impression, without referring to the rubric I gave above  (7.5/10), worth the investment.

*Spoiler Alert* Big Hero 6 Review

Hello Guys This is my first movie review ever so don't be too harsh. I mostly go for the entertainment value not the indepth which I may delve if I have the time. All of this is opinionated. I'am no English major so the grammar isn't that great.

Big Hero 6

Big hero 6 is a superhero movie which revolves around the a boy named hiro hamada and also his relationship with his brother and baymax.

Summarizing my view of this film, the plot of the film is solid and some of the characters were great. The film felt generic at time but will talk about that later. the protagonist of the movie ,hiro, is somewhat more interesting compared to other protagonist of this genre. Think of him as a young tony stark, however the  difference between him and tony stark is his relationship with his brother. The time spent in establishing the relationship of hiro and his older brother tadashi was excellent but I wished it could have been longer. They should have delayed his death to like the middle of the movie.

Another positive point of this movie is Baymax. His basically made the movie better than your average super hero movie. His interactions with hiro were both hilarious and heart warming. His character design was unique which makes him a very memorable character.

The overall theme was consistent through which I would say is about how to deal with death and loss. One scene that really hit was the scene where hiro removed tadashi's programming which subsequently made Baymax into a monster. The sheer contrast was very suprising. It hit me harder than the "death scene" of baymax which was kind of forced . It was very heart breaking for hiro to symbolically to throw away his brother's memories leaving only a vengeful beast which manifested in baymax. This one scene made me more invested in the film.

The bad things about this film where the generic team and the generic villain.

The super hero team besides the protagonist had absolutely no development. Even their entrance was very awkward. They had no personality besides their overstated quirks. Adding more scenes with the protagonist and the team like talking about tadashi would have been good to add to the film. Another bad thing was the generic villain which you could a spot a mile away. Another problem with the villain is because he wasn't developed that much. Adding scenes with the villain and hiro could have him more likable as a villain and would set him apart from all the others, unfortunately this never came to be.

One last thing, everybody keeps comparing this to how to train your dragon.  The overall theme and the characters are widely different. The only thing similar here is the flying sequences.

Big Hero 6 i would say a 7.5.
A good film however with painfully obvious weaknesses
I would give my detailed review next week
Sorry for the grammatical error that is surely in these review :))

After my detailed review next week, I would do a commentary about fairy tales and what they really mean. I got this idea because how people reacted to Cinderella the new movie coming out

My next movie review would I deem to be the worst miyazaki film. so please don't hate :))

NBA 2k15 Pre-order Preview

Hey guys, it's been a while. I just picked up my copy of NBA 2k15  and I'm here to let you know what to expect from the preorder package.

Let's start off with a photo:

That's ALL you're going to get from the PC preorder package. A case, and a plastic card with a CD key printed at the back. A sticker with a code to claim your preorder bonus is placed at the back of the case.  There's no physical disc included. (The pack includes a sports bottle though, which will arrive in a week or two. It doesn't really make up for not having a CD but a freebie is a freebie) .That sucks for people like me who have slow internet connection. The game is a 40GB download from Steam, so it's probably gonna take a couple more days before I actually get to play the game.

That's it for my run through on the NBA 2k15 preorder pack. I'm obviously just doing this to rant about having to download the game as opposed to installing it from a CD. I hope you guys don't get too shocked (the way I did) when you get your copy of the game. Peace!
